Herbies Spices Recipes
If you are really in a hurry, used a can of cooked lentils.
1 cup brown lentils soaked in 2 cups salted water
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon Herbie's Spices Lentil and Dhal Spice
1 fresh red chilli, chopped
1 can chopped tomatoes
1 Bring lentils to boil and simmer for about 30 minutes, until tender but not mushy.
2. Remove from heat and set aside.
3. In a separate saucepan, heat oil and soften onion and garlic.
4. Add spice mix, chilli, tomatoes, and lentils with their liquid.
5. Stir to combine and heat through.
This basic recipe is delicious, but you can ring the changes each time you make it. For a non-veg version, add chopped bacon. Or add other vegetables such as chopped mushrooms, peas, carrots or diced pumpkin. Leftovers can be frozen.
